Why bodywarmers work so well

A bodywarmer, or gilet, keeps your core warm while leaving your arms free. That makes it popular with people who move around for work: estate agents, gardeners, market traders, warehouse teams, sports coaches and event staff. It also makes for a smart, tidy uniform layer over a polo shirt or a shirt and tie.

Types

  • Padded bodywarmers are the warmest and have a smart quilted finish.
  • Softshell gilets are light, shower-resistant and a good match for a corporate look.
  • Fleece gilets are soft and comfortable, and they are good for indoor or light outdoor use.
  • Hi-vis waistcoats and gilets are for site work. Make sure they meet any standards your site requires.

Logo placement

The left chest is the standard position, with room for a logo of about 9 cm in width. For more visibility, a large logo or wording can go on the back. Quilted fabrics have raised stitched lines, so large embroidery or print may look uneven across them. It is often best to place a logo on a smooth panel, or on the back yoke. Tell us what kind of bodywarmer you want, and we will show you where it will sit.

Embroidery or print?

Embroidery is by far the most common choice, as it suits the thicker fabric and gives a lasting, premium finish. Heat transfers are sometimes better on nylon or water-resistant shells, because heavy stitching can cause puckering on thin materials. Very fine details do not stitch well, so we may simplify a logo for embroidery and show you a sample.

Sizing

Allow for what you will wear underneath. A bodywarmer that fits over a shirt may be too tight over a thick jumper. Ask for the size chart for your chosen brand, and try one on if you can. For a mixed team, include men's and women's fits. Most ranges offer both.

Ordering

Send your logo and a list of sizes, and let us know whether you want embroidery or print. We set up the artwork free of charge when we print the job, though embroidery may include a one-off digitising cost, which we will include in your quote. Keep the file for reorders so that it matches next time. It is worth ordering before autumn, as these are popular in the colder months and stock of particular colours can run out.

Questions we hear about bodywarmers

What is the difference between a bodywarmer and a gilet?

Very little. Both are sleeveless jackets. Gilet is often used for lighter or fashion styles, and bodywarmer for padded workwear.

Can you embroider a padded bodywarmer?

Yes. We will place the logo where the quilting lines cause the least distortion.

Can I order just a few?

Yes. Tell us how many you need. Very small embroidery orders can have a set-up cost.

Can you match my polo shirts?

Yes. We can use the same logo and try to choose a colour that goes well with your existing uniform.
