Personalised hoodies, printed in Tooting
A printed hoodie gets worn for years, far longer than a promotional T-shirt, so it is a good choice for a business, a university society, a gym, a dance school or a family. We can print or embroider one hoodie or a large batch, with your own artwork or a simple design that we help to make.
Print positions
- Left chest: a small logo or name, and usually about 9 cm wide
- Full front: a large design, placed around the pouch pocket
- Full back: the largest space, about 30 x 40 cm, good for event names and team logos
- Sleeves: initials, dates or a small logo
- Hood: possible, but check the seams and shape first
A pouch pocket interrupts the lower part of the front, so a front design should stop above it. It can be surprising how quickly the front fills up, so ask us to mock it up.
Printed or embroidered hoodies?
Embroidery looks great on a chest logo and gives a hoodie a more premium feel, particularly for staff and corporate gifts. Printing is the better fit for large designs and full-colour artwork, particularly on the back. The two are often combined, with an embroidered logo on the front and a print on the back.
Choosing a hoodie
Heavier hoodies of around 280 to 350gsm feel warmer and last longer, while lighter ones are better for layering and are cheaper. Zip-up hoodies are good for work and travel, but the zip splits the front, so most designs go on the back or on one side of the chest. Heavy cotton-rich fabrics take print well, but very fluffy interiors can sometimes show the heat-press marks on thinner fabrics. We can help you weigh up the choices.
Sizing and group orders
Hoodies are typically worn loose, and unisex sizes run large for many people. If you have any doubts, compare with a hoodie that fits and measure it across the chest. For groups, a shared sheet of names and sizes will save everyone time. For school year groups, see leavers hoodies, which has more on collecting orders.
Designing for fabric
Very fine detail may not transfer well because hoodies have a thicker, softer surface. Keep lines bold, and send the largest image you have. A vector file or a PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest edges. Check that you have permission to use any logos or photos. Our free artwork set-up means you can start with a sketch, and we will produce a proof of the design and position.
Care
Wash inside out on a cool wash and let the hoodie air dry when you can. Avoid ironing the print, and try to keep tumble drying to a minimum, as heat is what shortens the life of the print.
How soon can I have it?
Tell us your date. Printed hoodies for a small order with ready artwork can often be done quickly, especially if we have the colour and size in stock. Embroidery and large orders will take longer. We deliver throughout the UK for a quoted charge, and you can collect from Gatton Road.
Questions we hear about hoodies
Can you print one hoodie?
Yes. One-offs are fine, and personalised hoodies are popular as gifts.
How much does a custom hoodie cost?
It depends on the hoodie, the design and the quantity. Tell us what you want and we will give you a price before you order.
Can you print on the sleeves or hood?
Sleeves are common. The hood is possible but limited by the seams, so we will check it first.
Do hoodies shrink after washing?
Cotton-rich hoodies can shrink slightly. Wash them cool, avoid hot tumble drying and check the size chart when ordering.
