A leavers hoodie to remember the year by
For many students, a leavers hoodie is the final school keepsake, and for many primary schools, a leavers T-shirt is a tradition for signing on the last day. We print for primary schools, secondary schools, sixth forms and university groups, with a list of names on the back and a year on the front.
Classic leavers design ideas
- The year as a big number, like 27, made up of all the students' names
- "Class of 2027" and the school name on the front
- A nickname or initial on the sleeve or the chest
- A list of names on the back, in columns or a shape
- The school logo on the chest, with the school's permission
Very small type can be an issue if the year group is large. When there are lots of names, make the type as large as possible, and check that the longest ones fit. As a general guide, text under about 8pt is hard to read on fabric, so large groups may want to use first names only or split the list across the design.
Collecting orders without chaos
Most leavers orders go wrong in the admin stage, so plan it this way:
- Choose a coordinator. One parent, teacher or student handles all communication with us.
- Get approval first. Check the school is happy with the design, logo and wording.
- Collect names and sizes in a shared spreadsheet, along with payment if needed.
- Set a firm deadline, ideally well before the end of term.
- Check spelling with each student before you sign off.
Provide one sample size set if you can, because sizes vary across brands and students often order too small. For primary schools, order a size up, especially if the shirt will be worn over clothes.
Getting the timing right
Summer term is the busy season for leavers wear. Aim to place your order several weeks before you need it, as printing lots of individual names takes time. If you are ordering for a university society or a sixth-form, let us know the last day of term, the prom date, or whichever event is your real deadline.
Primary leavers T-shirts for signing
If students will sign each other's shirts, a light colour and a smooth, cotton fabric makes it easier. Fabric pens work better than ballpoints. Consider putting the main design on the front, so that there is room on the back for messages.

Tell us your total numbers, your garment, the number of print positions and your date. We will give a clear price for each garment, so you can collect the right amount from families. Artwork is set up free of charge when we print the job, and we will send you a proof showing all the names, so everyone can check them before anything is printed.

It depends on the group and the design, but we can usually fit a full year group. For big groups, use first names only so the text stays large enough.
