Lanyards and badges that make people easy to identify
Lanyards and name badges help people know who is who. Conferences use them for delegates. Schools and care homes use them for staff and visitors. Offices use them to identify staff and to carry door passes, and festivals use them for crews and VIPs.
Lanyard options
| Type | Good for |
|---|---|
| Plain, in a chosen colour | Colour-coding teams on a budget |
| Printed polyester | Logo or event name, often on one or both sides |
| Dye-sublimated | Full-colour designs and fine details |
| Recycled PET or bamboo | Eco-minded events |
| Woven | A premium finish with a textured logo |
The typical width is about 15 to 20 mm. A wider lanyard gives you more room for a logo. Text must be fairly large to read at this size, so a short event name usually works better than a long slogan.
Safety clips and fittings
Breakaway clips release if the lanyard is pulled, which helps to prevent neck injuries. They are strongly recommended for schools, care settings, workshops and anywhere a lanyard could catch on something. Other fittings include metal hooks, swivel clips, ID holders and retractable reels. Tell us what will hang on the lanyard, as heavier passes may need stronger clips. If you work in a school or similar setting, check your safeguarding and safety policies as well.
Name badges
- Paper inserts in plastic holders are quick and cheap, and they suit one-off events where names are printed in advance.
- Printed plastic or PVC ID cards are tough and can be printed with a photo and a number, but they may need a card printer and data.
- Metal or laminated staff badges with a magnet or pin look professional in shops and hospitality.
- Reusable window badges let you change a name when staff change.
Magnetic fasteners do not damage clothing, but they are not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker. Pins are a cheaper option, but they can damage delicate clothing. Tell us who will wear them.
Printing names from a spreadsheet
Send a spreadsheet with one person per row, and we can merge names, job titles, companies and event roles into your layout. Please check spellings before you send it, and include a few blank badges for last-minute guests. Use large, readable names: people should be able to read a badge from a metre or two away. Printing on both sides helps too, because badges often flip over. Remember that names and photos are personal data, so share them securely.
Ordering
Tell us how many you need, the width and colour, and which clip you want, and send your logo. We set up artwork free of charge when we print the job and will show you a proof. Printed lanyards are usually made to order, so allow extra time before your event. Paper name badges and inserts can usually be printed much more quickly, sometimes the same day.
