A bottle becomes a gift
A personalised wine box turns a good bottle into a proper present, and keeps it safe on the way there. Businesses use them for client gifts and Christmas thank-yous. Couples give them to parents and to the wedding party. Families use them to mark a big birthday, an anniversary or a new home, and some people fill one on a wedding day to open many years later.
Types of wine box
| Box | Feel | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Printed card or corrugated | Light and low-cost | Retail, corporate gifts in volume |
| Rigid gift box | Premium, with a magnetic or hinged lid | Corporate gifts |
| Engraved or printed wood | Traditional and long-lasting | Personal gifts, weddings, keepsakes |
| Slide-top or hinged wood | Feels like a real keepsake | Anniversaries, wedding gifts |
Sizes vary, so check that a box will fit your bottle, especially in the case of magnums, champagne or unusually wide bottles. A standard box usually fits 75cl wine bottles, and champagne bottles are typically wider. Tell us what will go inside.
What to print or engrave
For a personal gift, include a name, a date and perhaps a short message or a family name. Engraved wood looks best with simple lettering, without fine details. For a business, a discreet logo and a simple message look more refined than a large promotional panel. Bold type is more legible on a wood grain, and a darker wood can reduce contrast, so check how it will look on your chosen box.
Corporate gifting
Plan early if you are giving these at Christmas, as many companies order at the same time. Keep the branding modest, because people are more likely to keep something that looks like a nice box. Check your clients' policies on gifts, as some organisations have strict limits, and consider non-alcoholic options for those who do not drink. A small printed card inside the box can carry your personal message.
Protecting the bottle
For a gift that will travel, add padding or fitted inserts so that the bottle does not move around. If you are shipping one, you will need to use a suitable courier and follow its rules on sending alcohol, and you may need age verification on delivery. We supply the box, not the wine, so your bottle remains your responsibility.
Ordering
Tell us the type of box, your wording or your logo, how many you want and the date. We will prepare a proof free of charge when we print the job, so you can check the spelling before it is engraved, as this cannot be undone. Personalised wooden boxes are usually made to order, so please allow time. Pair your gift with a custom bottle label for a complete present, or a canvas wine bag for something lighter.
Questions we hear about wine boxes
Can you make one personalised wine box?
Yes, in many styles. One-off engraved boxes are popular for weddings and birthdays.
Will a champagne bottle fit in a wine box?
Not always, because champagne bottles are usually wider. Tell us what bottle you are using so that we can check.
Do you supply the wine?
We supply the personalised box. The bottle is up to you, although we can print a custom label for it.
Can you print my logo on a box for clients?
Yes. A modest logo and a personal message generally work best for corporate gifts.
