Pull-up banners ready for your next event

A roller banner, or pull-up banner, is the easiest display you can buy. It rolls out of its own base, clips on to a pole and is ready in under a minute. When the event is over, it rolls back up and goes in its bag. That is why it has become the standard for exhibitions, conferences, reception areas, open days, shop promotions and church or community events.

Designing for a tall, narrow format

People read a roller banner from several metres away, usually while walking past. Designs that work tend to follow these rules:

  1. Put the main message at eye level. The top third of the banner is the part people actually see.
  2. Keep the bottom 150 to 200 mm free of key information. It can be hidden by tables and people, and part of it may sit inside the base.
  3. Use few words. Your name, what you do, and one benefit or call to action. Save the details for a leaflet.
  4. Choose big type. Your main headline should be readable from about five metres.
  5. Use a high-resolution image. A banner two metres tall needs a much bigger image file than a web page. Aim for around 150 dpi at full size.

Using a roller banner

Roller banners are intended for indoor use. They can be used briefly outdoors on a calm, dry day, but the tall shape acts like a sail, so wind can easily blow it over. For outdoor events, use a PVC banner or a feather flag instead.

To extend its life, keep the banner in its bag and always let it roll back slowly, with a hand on the top rail. Letting it spring back is the main cause of damage. If your branding changes, a new graphic is often possible, so keep hold of the stand and ask us.

Taking it to events

The base and bag are compact enough for one person to carry, and two banners side by side can create a backdrop for a stand. Add a printed table and a leaflet stand and you have a complete display that fits in a car boot.

How soon can you have it?

Tell us your deadline, particularly if you have an event tomorrow. Roller banners with ready artwork can often be turned around very quickly. We can sometimes print them the same day, depending on stand availability and workload, so phone 020 8133 4499 to confirm. You can collect from Gatton Road, or we can deliver within the UK for a quoted charge.
