Types of counter
- Folding plastic tables with a printed skirt are often the cheapest option.
- Pop-up promotional counters collapse into a small bag or wheeled case.
- Rigid promotional counters have a printed wrap, a shelf and a solid top, which suit trade shows.
Check the weight limit before putting stock or heavy displays on the table, and test the height. Counter-height units work well for standing visitors, while lower tables suit seated work and consultations.
Designing the front panel
The bottom of the panel will often be hidden by legs and people, so place your name and key message in the top half. A logo, a simple line and a website or QR code are enough. Avoid putting small text at knee height, since nobody will read it. If your logo is on a roller banner behind the table, avoid repeating it at the same height, and consider using the table front for your offer.
Practical considerations
Keep a small bag with spare clips, tape and a cleaning cloth. Store the graphic rolled rather than creased, and wipe it down after each outing. Fabric wraps can usually be washed, and printed rigid panels can be cleaned with a damp cloth. If your event is outside, remember that a light table can tip in the wind, so weight it down.
