Custom printed envelopes
A return address means undelivered post comes back to you, and a logo tells the recipient who the letter is from before it is opened. Printed envelopes also make an invoice or a mailing look deliberate. We can arrange short runs for small firms, as well as for events such as weddings and launches.
Which envelope size do you need?

Window envelopes save labelling when your letters are laid out correctly. We can check your letterhead against the window so that the address sits in the right place once the sheet is folded.
What prints well on an envelope
Envelopes are already made up when they are printed, so the seams and flaps create an uneven surface. Ink can also pick up slightly across joins. For that reason, simple logos, a line or two of text and a return address on the flap or top left usually give the cleanest results. Solid areas of colour across the whole front are harder and may need a different approach, so tell us what you have in mind and we will check it first.
Post and the address area
Royal Mail's sorting machines need to read the address, so leave a clear white space for it. Keep your print in the top left or on the flap, and avoid busy backgrounds. Large envelopes can be charged at a higher rate than standard letters, so think about the postage as well as the cost of printing when you choose between sizes.
Ordering envelopes
Tell us the size, quantity and whether you need a window, along with your logo or return address. We will confirm price and lead time. If you have no artwork, we can set up a simple logo and address layout free of charge when we print. Because envelopes may need to be ordered in, they are a less likely same-day job, so give us some notice if you have a mailing date.

Which envelope fits an A4 letter folded in three?
A DL envelope. It is the standard choice for invoices and business letters.
Can you print on window envelopes?
Yes. Keep your design clear of the window, and we can check your letter layout so the address shows properly.
Can you print full-colour logos on envelopes?
Yes. Simple logos work best because of the seams and flaps. We will check your artwork against the envelope and tell you of any issues before printing.
