Business card printing in Tooting

A good business card does two simple jobs: it stays readable, and it survives a few weeks in a wallet. We print cards on Gatton Road for tradespeople, salons, consultants, drivers and shop owners, in quantities from 50 to 500. If you search for "business cards near me" because you need them for a meeting or a market this week, you can bring in your file, talk through the options and know the price and the collection time before anything is printed.

What 50, 100, 250 and 500 cards cost

The table on this page shows our standard prices. They work out very differently per card:

Quantity Single sided Double sided Double sided, per card
50 £18 £20 40p
100 £20 £25 25p
250 £40 £50 20p
500 £55 £65 13p

Fifty is sensible if your details might change or you are testing a new name. If you hand out cards every day, 250 or 500 usually makes more sense. Going from single to double sided adds very little and gives you space for a list of services, a map or an appointment line, so it is normally worth doing.

Size and card weight

The standard UK business card is 85 x 55 mm, which fits wallets and card holders. Most cards are printed on 300 to 400gsm card. A heavier board feels more substantial, but anything too thick can crack along an edge if the design has dark colour running to the trim. If that sounds like your design, tell us and we will suggest the most suitable stock.

Choosing a finish

  • Matt is easy to read under shop lights and is good for text-heavy cards.
  • Gloss makes photographs and strong colours stand out, so it often suits food, property and beauty businesses.
  • Uncoated feels natural and is the one to pick if you need to write on the card, for example a time for a next appointment.

Rounded corners are available on request. Before you decide, ask to see a sample: card weight and coating are far easier to judge in the hand than from a description.

Details worth checking before you approve a proof

Most of the reprints we see are caused by the same few things. Check these first:

  1. Mobile and landline numbers. Read them out loud digit by digit.
  2. Email address and website. Type them into your phone exactly as printed.
  3. Text size. Anything below about 7pt is difficult to read, particularly in a thin or light font.
  4. Text near the edge. Keep wording at least 3 mm inside the trim line, as our guide to bleed and safe areas explains.
  5. Logo quality. A logo copied from a website may look fine on your screen but print soft at actual size.

Registered companies can also find it useful to show their registered company name on cards where it differs from the trading name, so customers know exactly who they are dealing with.

Business card design if you do not have a file

You do not need to arrive with finished artwork. Give us your name, job title, contact details and your logo if you have one, and we will lay out the card free of charge when we print it, then show you a proof to approve. If you have an old card that you like, bring it along. We can usually match its size and general style even if the original file was lost years ago.

Your artwork stays on file, so a reorder can be as simple as a phone call. If only one detail has changed, tell us the new wording and we will show you an updated proof.

How quickly can you print business cards?

Business cards are one of the quickest jobs we do. With a ready-to-print file sent early in the day, same-day printing is often possible, though it depends on the finish and on what else is on the press. If you have a deadline, phone 020 8133 4499 before you set off, and we will tell you honestly whether it can be done. Cards can be collected from the shop or delivered within the UK for a quoted charge.

Cards that work with the rest of your print

If you are opening a shop or starting a service, it usually pays to order several items with the same design. A short run of flyers for the neighbours, a loyalty card for a cafe or barber, and a pavement sign for the door are common companions. Sharing the artwork keeps the colours consistent and saves setting up each design from scratch.

Questions we hear about business cards

How much do business cards cost?

Our prices start at £18 for 50 single-sided cards or £20 for 50 double-sided. 500 double-sided cards cost £65, which is 13p per card.

Can you print business cards the same day?

Often, yes, if the artwork is ready and you get it to us early in the day. Finishes and busy periods can affect this, so call before you travel if your deadline is firm.

What file should I bring for business cards?

A PDF at 85 x 55 mm with 3 mm bleed is ideal. If you only have a Word file, a logo or a photo of an old card, bring that and we can set up the artwork free of charge.

Can you match my old cards?

Usually. Bring one in so we can compare the size, card and colours and find the closest match.

What is the standard business card size in the UK?

85 x 55 mm. It fits wallets and most card holders, so we recommend it unless you have a particular reason to use another size.

Do you offer rounded corners?

Yes, on request. Tell us when you ask for a quote so that it is included in your price.
