Postcard printing for small runs
A postcard does not need to be opened, which is its great advantage. Dentists, estate agents and salons use them as reminders because the message is read on the doormat, and artists and small brands use them as something customers keep. We print short runs on heavier card at A6 and A5.

What size is a postcard?
The standard UK postcard is A6, which measures 105 x 148 mm. It is the most common size and fits most postcard racks, frames and envelopes. A5 (148 x 210 mm) gives you twice the space and is harder to miss on a doormat, so it is a good choice for promotional mailers and invitations.
Planning a postcard you will post
Keep the right-hand half of the back clear for the address and stamp, and leave a clean space with no dark background behind it. Check the current Royal Mail size and weight limits and prices before you print a large batch, because going over a limit can change the cost of postage on every card.
Keep your message short. A headline, one clear offer and a way to respond is all a postcard should try to do. A QR code works well if it leads directly to the relevant page, rather than your home page.
Which finish to choose
Uncoated and matt cards take a ballpoint well, which matters for thank-you notes and appointment reminders. Gloss gives photographs more punch, but pen ink can smudge on it. If you want both, ask us about a glossier picture side with a matt writing side. We can also print from a photograph, so holiday lets, photographers and illustrators can easily turn their images into postcards.
Files, design and turnaround
Send a PDF at the final size with 3 mm of bleed, or send your photo and wording and we can do the artwork free of charge when we print. Short runs with ready files can often be printed the same day, so phone with your deadline. For an event, it usually helps to order a matching poster or flyers, which we can adapt from the same design.

Can you write on the back of a postcard with a pen?
Uncoated and matt stocks take ballpoint well, while gloss coatings can smear. Tell us if you plan to handwrite and we will suggest a suitable card.
Can you print postcards from my own photo?
Yes. A high-resolution original gives the best result, so send the file straight from the camera or phone rather than a copy from social media.
Do you post the cards out for me?
We print them and can deliver them to you within the UK for a quoted charge. Addressing and mailing to your list is something to discuss with us before you order.
