Turn your window into advertising

Your shop window is one of the most valuable pieces of advertising you have, because it is seen by everyone who walks along the street. Window graphics range from small opening-hours stickers to full-colour displays across the glass. Shops along Mitcham Road use them for logos, seasonal promotions and privacy.

Types of window graphic

Type What it does Good for
Solid printed vinyl Full-colour image that blocks the view Displays, promotions, hiding stockrooms
Cut vinyl lettering Letters and logos with no background Opening times, shop names, phone numbers
Frosted vinyl Etched-glass look that lets light in Office privacy, meeting rooms, clinics
Perforated (contra vision) Image from outside, a view out from inside Large shop displays, vehicle rear windows
Static cling No adhesive, can be re-used Short-term promotions, rented premises

Inside or outside the glass?

Applying vinyl inside the glass protects it from weather, cleaning and vandalism, and we usually recommend it for shops. If the graphic goes inside, the image must be printed so it reads correctly through the glass, so let us know which side you are planning to fix it to. Outside fitting can be brighter because there is no glass reflection in front of it, but it wears faster.

Measure properly

Measure each pane separately, including the visible glass only and not the frame. Then send us the sizes, along with a photograph of the shop front if you can. Windows that look identical often differ by several millimetres. For larger displays across several panes, we will split the artwork at the glazing bars.

Good window graphic design

  • Put opening times and phone numbers at eye level, on or near the door.
  • Use high-contrast colours, because reflections can wash out pale text.
  • Keep promotional text short so that it can be read while walking past.
  • Don't cover so much glass that your shop looks closed from the street.

Permission and fitting

Some signage may need your landlord's permission, and in certain areas, large displays could need planning consent, so please check before you order a large job. Small lettering is easy to fit yourself with a squeegee and a little soapy water, and we can advise you. For larger panels and full window displays, we can discuss fitting options, as this is a job that benefits from experience.

Getting started

Send us your window sizes and what you want to show. Our free artwork set-up means you do not need to have a design ready. We will produce a proof, and we may also mock it up against a photo of your window to show how it will look. Shop opening? Pair it with PVC banners, flyers and loyalty cards.

Questions we hear about window graphics

Do window graphics go inside or outside the glass?

Inside is usual because it protects the graphic from weather and cleaning. Tell us which you prefer, as the artwork must be set up to suit.

Can I see out through window graphics?

With perforated vinyl, yes. It shows an image from the outside while you can still see out from the inside.

Can you print frosted window film with a logo?

Yes. Frosted vinyl can have logos and lettering cut out of it, which is a popular choice for offices and clinics.

Do you fit window graphics?

Small lettering is usually easy to fit yourself. Tell us about your window, and we can discuss options for larger jobs.

Will they damage my window?

Vinyl normally comes off glass cleanly with a little heat and a scraper, although older adhesive may take more effort.
