Poster printing near you
Printing one poster at a local shop is often simpler than ordering online, because you can see the colours before you pay and collect it the same day if the timing works. We print paper posters for shop windows, events, gigs, presentations, student research and home decoration. There is no minimum order, so one poster is as welcome as a hundred.
Poster printing prices
Prices are per poster and fall as the quantity goes up.
| Size | 1 poster | 5 posters, each | 10 posters, each |
|---|---|---|---|
| A2 (420 x 594 mm) | £16 | £12 | £8 |
| A1 (594 x 841 mm) | £22 | £18 | £14 |
| A0 (841 x 1189 mm) | £35 | £30 | £24 |
So ten A2 posters cost £80 in total, while a single A0 costs £35. Need a size that is not listed, such as A3? Just ask.
Which size should you choose?
- A2 suits a shop window, a noticeboard or an event listing that will be read from a couple of metres.
- A1 is common for conference posters, classroom displays and foyers.
- A0 is the size to choose if a poster must read from across a room, and is the usual maximum for academic poster sessions.
To judge a size at home, tape together sheets of A4 on the wall: eight sheets make an A1 and sixteen make an A0.
Academic and research posters
Students and researchers from nearby St George's and other London institutions often need an A0 or A1 poster for a conference, often at short notice. Check the conference guidelines for the size and orientation, then export a PDF from PowerPoint rather than bringing the PowerPoint file itself, so your fonts and spacing stay fixed. Zoom in to 100% on your charts and photos to look for blur, and check that any body text is big enough to read from a metre away. If a deadline is close, phone before you travel.
Photo posters and home prints
Posters are not only for business. A favourite picture, a child's artwork or a travel photo can look great at A2 or A1 in a frame. Photos taken on a modern phone generally have enough detail for A2 or A1, but anything that has been compressed by a messaging app or social media may not. Send the original file where you can. For smaller pictures and photo paper, see our photo prints page.
Getting your artwork right
Three common faults cause most poster disappointments:
- Blurry images. Aim for 150 dpi at final size for a poster that will be viewed from about a metre or more. A logo pulled from a website rarely has enough detail.
- The wrong proportions. A-series sizes are all the same shape, but a widescreen slide or a phone photo is not. Either accept some white space or let us crop it.
- Colours that look duller in print. Bright screen colours cannot always be matched by ink. RGB and CMYK explains why, and what to do about it.
If you would like us to design it, send us your text and images. We set up the poster for free when we print it and we will show you a proof.
Same-day poster printing
Posters are among our quickest jobs. A ready-to-print PDF that reaches us early can often be collected the same day, though large quantities or a busy period can affect that. Call 020 8133 4499 with the size, quantity and your deadline. Delivery within the UK is also available for a quoted charge, with posters shipped rolled in a tube.
When paper is not the best choice
Paper is ideal indoors, but rain and handling will spoil it quickly. For anything going outside, choose PVC or non-tear posters instead. To stick a poster straight on to a wall or window, use self-adhesive vinyl. For a poster that will stand on its own at an event, ask about mounting it on foam board.
Questions we hear about paper posters
Which poster size should I choose?
A2 suits a shop window, A1 is the usual size for a conference or noticeboard, and A0 is for a poster that must read from across a room.
Are the prices per poster?
Yes. Each price is per poster at that quantity, so ten A2 posters are charged at the ten-poster rate of £8 each.
Can you print just one poster?
Yes. There is no minimum. A single A2 is £16, a single A1 is £22 and a single A0 is £35.
Can I get a poster printed the same day?
Often, yes, if your file is ready and reaches us early in the day. Phone with your size and deadline and we will confirm before you set off.
What file format is best for poster printing?
A PDF with fonts embedded is best. High-resolution JPG and PNG files also work. For PowerPoint, export to PDF first.
Can you print my research poster for a conference?
Yes. Check the conference's size rules, send a PDF, and tell us when you travel so that we can plan around your deadline.
