What is a vinyl poster?

A vinyl poster is printed on a flexible self-adhesive film. You peel off the backing and stick it to a smooth surface, with no frame, tape or Blu Tack needed. It suits places where paper keeps curling or getting torn down, such as a stockroom door, a shop wall, a gym, or the inside of a window. Vinyl also wipes clean, which makes it useful in kitchens, salons and busy corridors.

Surfaces that work and those that don't

  • Good: glass, gloss-painted doors, metal, smooth plastic and laminated boards.
  • Possible, with care: well-cured painted walls. Test a small hidden patch first.
  • Not suitable: rough brick, textured plaster, dusty or damp walls, and freshly painted walls, which need several weeks to cure.

Clean the surface with soapy water, dry it and make sure it is free from grease before sticking. Press from the centre outwards with a soft card to push out air bubbles. On larger posters, it is easiest with two people.

Permanent or removable?

Tell us how long it needs to stay up. Removable adhesive suits promotions and rented premises, whereas permanent adhesive is better for long-term signs. Either way, peeling vinyl off a weak painted surface can lift paint, so choose carefully if the wall matters. On glass, you may prefer our dedicated window graphics, which can be planned around the view from both sides.

Indoors or outdoors?

Printed vinyl is water-resistant and will cope with outdoor conditions better than paper. For a long stay in direct sunlight, ask us about lamination, which adds protection against scratching and fading.

Vinyl poster or PVC poster?

The names sound similar, and people often mix them up. Vinyl posters are thin and stick on directly. PVC posters are usually a sheet or banner-like material that gets fixed in place with ties, tape or screws. If you want a poster that hangs or can be moved, PVC is often the better choice.

Sizes and ordering

We can print from A3 up to large wall sizes, and cut to a custom shape if you need one. Vinyl poster pricing depends on size and adhesive, so call or WhatsApp us for a quote. Send artwork as a PDF with 3 mm bleed, or send your words and images, and we will lay it out free of charge when we print. Tell us the deadline, and we will confirm whether same-day printing is realistic for your job.

Questions we hear about vinyl posters

Will vinyl posters damage paint?

They can on weak or recently painted walls. A removable adhesive is the safer choice, and a test on a hidden patch is sensible.

Can vinyl posters go outdoors?

Yes, on a smooth, clean surface. For long periods outside, ask us about lamination to protect the print.

Can I reposition a vinyl poster after sticking it?

Only to a limited degree. Removable adhesive is more forgiving, but it is best to position it carefully the first time.

What is the difference between vinyl and PVC posters?

A vinyl poster is a thin self-adhesive film that sticks on directly. A PVC poster is a tougher sheet that is hung or fixed in place.
