Printed gift vouchers for local businesses

A gift voucher brings in money today and a new customer later, often someone who has never visited before. Salons, restaurants, driving instructors, gyms and independent shops all use them, especially in the run-up to Christmas, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day. We print them for small businesses in manageable quantities, so you are not left with hundreds of unsold vouchers.

Treat a voucher like money

A voucher can effectively be exchanged for goods or services, so it is worth making it difficult to copy and easy to check:

  • Individual numbering lets you keep a simple list of what has been sold and redeemed.
  • An expiry date, if you use one, must be shown clearly. Check current consumer guidance before you set a short one.
  • A space for the value written by hand lets you use one design for any amount.
  • A signature or stamp adds a simple extra check when the voucher is sold.

Terms to print on the back

Keep them short, but include the things customers will otherwise ask about: whether it can be exchanged for cash, whether change is given, whether it can be used for part of a bill, how to book, and whether it can be used alongside other offers. If you take bookings, say so here.

Size and finish

Three sizes are common: business card size for a simple code or discount, DL (99 x 210 mm) for a voucher that feels like a gift, and A6 for something with more space for an image. A heavier card feels more substantial, and a matt or uncoated back is easier to write on. A matching envelope makes the voucher feel like a present, which matters when someone is buying it as a gift.

Discount vouchers and promotions

If you want a money-off voucher rather than a gift voucher, a short run of flyers with a tear-off or a code may be cheaper. A separate code for each street or campaign tells you exactly which promotion worked. We can also add QR codes that lead to your booking page.

Ordering

Send your logo, value or wording, and the terms. We will set up the design free of charge when we print it and show you a proof before anything goes to print. For seasonal vouchers, order a few weeks early if possible, as printing queues get longer before Christmas. A numbered job takes a little more time than a standard print run, so mention it when you tell us your deadline.

Questions we hear about gift vouchers

Can you number vouchers individually?

Yes, sequential numbering is available. Tell us the starting number when you order.

What should a gift voucher include?

The value or service, your business name and contact details, a unique number, the expiry date if there is one, and short terms on the back.

Can I write the amount on by hand?

Yes. We can leave a blank space on an uncoated or matt surface, which is easy to write on.

Can you make vouchers with a matching envelope?

Yes. Tell us the voucher size and we will match an envelope, printed or plain.
